Jan’s Story

I really enjoyed the Tap Yourself Slim program and learnt so much about my emotions and why I was eating excessively and chasing after unhealthy foods to satisfy my immediate needs. Now I am aware of this I can manage my eating more appropriately.

The biggest problem I had before joining the TYS program was to find a way of eating that was healthy, not faddy and that I could calmly stick to without getting fed up with it and blowing it completely yet again. I had heard about EFT and was also keen to know how it could address other life issues, as I realized that the overeating was tied up with these issues.

I found the TYS website on Google and was curious about how it worked. When I called Linda I found her welcoming of my enquiry and she listened to my queries.  She was very helpful and encouraging without being pushy. Her questions were stimulating I recall, but also a relief because I realised that they meant that I was not the only person with the same eating/diet issues which was reassuring.  I had previously been to lots of slimming clubs and did not want to go down that route again as they did not work for me. I immediately decided to join a course but had to wait a few weeks for the next one to begin. I started in January 2010. I felt a real buzz at the idea of finally finding a refreshing different approach from the normal ‘clubs’. The finances took some thinking about because of the situation I was in. I calculated it to be good value though at the time for 10 weeks plus support

At the first class it was good to know that I was not alone when we began to identify the psychological reasons for the eating. The classes built and bolted on to each other – it was like a journey and I learnt so much about food in general e.g. chemicals, ingredients and what happens in the body etc.

EFT has opened a huge door for me to address other issues that had been lurking for a while and has helped me to recognize some changes I needed to make in life regarding my work schedule.

Since completing the program I have in the main continued to follow the principles and concepts taught. The TYS manual is a brilliant resource to dip into to remind me.

I have continued to lose weight since then as the program helped me to look at the bigger issues of weight retention and I have identified the intolerances that were not helping either. I’m also a member of the Success Group which keeps me in touch with other like minded people – reassuring to know we so often have the same issues and have also found the ‘borrowed benefits’ in the teleclass a huge help.

The Tap Yourself Slim program is such a refreshing new approach to food and what we eat, and I highly recommend it, and you may find it helps in other ways too.  Really it is a stimulating life changing program.

The fact that we were small group when compared to slimming clubs’ meant that privacy was ensured and we were not put in embarrassing situations.  We can participate as little or as much as we liked at each meeting.

Linda provides great encouragement and with such a sensible point of view. She is always there to offer support for the many issues that came up for me during the program. I also had a couple of 1-2-1 sessions for related issues, the fact that Linda is an experienced therapist meant she linked up my other issues with my overeating and dealt with them as one.
